Good point about Euromomo. Euromomo is blind to population trends, and I'm a bit surprised why this portal receives so much attention. It only provides clear results when death rates suddenly rise rapidly. You would be able to see this with the naked eye from the raw numbers.
What I don't understand is why the central statistics offices of the various countries don't make more effort to communicate the situation more clearly. CSO.ie in Ireland did publish an article trying to explain but failed, for example, to produce the simple mortality rate plots from part 2 of this article.
